Biography
David Tual is Professor of Language Education and the Director of the Centre for Languages and Inter-Communication at the University of Cambridge's Engineering Department. Building on over two decades of experience in language education, David has developed an expertise in language for specific purposes, curriculum development and innovative teaching methods.
David’s scholarship is primarily situated at the intersection of language learning and engineering education, promoting global communication skills essential for future engineers. As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he has made over 50 contributions to conferences, workshops and various education-related events across the United Kingdom, Europe and beyond.
Since 2015, he is the co-organiser of the Languages for Specific Purposes in Higher Education (LSPHE) conference series. Additionally, he is the co-founder of the Global Engineer Languages and Skills (GELS) network, which aims to better prepare engineering student for international study and employment while offering continuous professional development to teachers in the field of LSP for STEM disciplines.
